ABOUT DAVID

David Burbach is a native Oregonian. His professional background was in public accounting. After acquiring his CPA certification he worked for in finance and real estate until 1979, when he opened his own practice.

Twenty five years ago David's brother Steve introduced him to alpine hiking and it was a natural tie-in with David's love for photography. Since then David has pursued his passion for both the outdoors and capturing the beauty of the natural world on film.

David is well versed in all camera formats, from 35 mm through to large format (8 x 10). Most recently he has been using digital cameras to make direct prints as well as digital negatives for platinum contact prints. He now considers himself a full time fine arts photographer. He makes All of his prints, from start to finish, in his darkroom.

David's eclectic tastes draws inspiration from a wide variety of photographers including Joseph Sudek, Paul Strand, Edward and Brett Weston and Minor White, Phil Harris (his personal mentor), and from his friendship with fellow photographer, Patrick Kolb. Influences are not limited to photographers. Artists such as Vemeer and Hopper, musicians such as Yo Yo Ma and Miles Davis and theologian Thomas Merton are possibly even bigger influences.
